Pantomime & Family Theatre in Birmingham
Birmingham has proper panto stages close in, not just out of town. The Blue Orange Theatre in the Jewellery Quarter runs pantomime shows and youth theatre classes for ages 6 to 18, and if you want the big Hippodrome experience, the Circle Lounge there does a pre-show meal from £9 so you can feed the kids before curtain up. Sutton Coldfield has two options worth knowing: the Town Hall does Cinderella and Joseph with tickets from £3, while Highbury Theatre runs a Tuesday youth theatre group for 11 to 18 year olds. For younger children, Tamworth Assembly Rooms cover ages 0 to 16 and are about 13 miles out, while Artrix in Bromsgrove welcomes ages 0 and up with sensory-friendly access. Core Theatre in Solihull mixes panto with youth theatre for older kids. Older children and teens are better served further out: Talisman Theatre in Kenilworth offers a relaxed performance and is aimed at 12 and up, and Theatre On The Steps in Bridgnorth runs a Youth Theatre for aspiring actors aged 5 to 25. Blue Orange is pricier at £45, so check budgets against the £3 to £10 options first.
