What it’s like
A proper old theatre in the middle of Tamworth doing pantos, films, comedy and music for kids from babes in arms up to teens.
This is a theatre, so what your kids do here depends entirely on what's on. The site lists pantomimes, comedy, films and music performances, which covers a lot of ground, and the child ticket age runs from 2 to 16, so there's usually something pitched at whoever you're bringing. Babies under 24 months get in free, though they still need a ticket for fire regulations, which feels a bit odd but is fairly standard for venues like this.
There's no cloakroom. Photography isn't allowed once the performance starts either, so don't plan on getting the money shot of your five-year-old's face during the panto villain's entrance.
Food-wise there's a proper bar and lounge doing hot and cold drinks, cakes, sandwiches, jacket potatoes and even roast dinners, and you can bring cold snacks and drinks bought there into the auditorium with you. It's a short walk from the train station if you fancy skipping the parking question altogether, and there's blue badge parking and wheelchair access if you need it, with up to seven wheelchair spaces in the auditorium that need booking ahead.
One thing worth knowing before you commit: there are no refunds on tickets except in exceptional circumstances that have to go through the box office in writing, so don't book a show on a whim if you're not sure the kids will sit through it.
