Sutton Coldfield Town Hall

WHERE
Sutton Coldfield
What it’s like
A proper old town hall stage doing pantomimes like Cinderella and family musicals such as Joseph, with tickets from £3.
This is a traditional theatre venue rather than a soft play or farm, so what your kids get is a seat, a stage, and a story. Pantomimes like Cinderella are the obvious pull for younger ones, while family musicals such as Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat give slightly older kids something with more plot to follow. There isn't an age range given on the site, so use your own judgement on whether your little one can sit through a full show.
Prices swing about a lot depending on what's on. Nostalgic Music nights start at £3, but the tribute act shows creep up towards £31 standard or £46 for VIP, so check what you're booking before you assume it's a cheap night out. You can buy on the door, but they're upfront that availability isn't guaranteed, which is a bit of a gamble if you've built the whole afternoon around it.
Getting there is easy if you're on the train, the station is a minute's walk away, with Birmingham and Lichfield both twenty minutes off. Getting there by car is the faff: there's no on-site parking, so you're relying on the free spaces on King Edwards Square after 6pm or a paid car park from £1.20. If anyone in your party needs a wheelchair space, there are only two per event and they go through the Box Office directly, so that's one to sort well ahead rather than hope for on the night.
The building itself is accessible, with wheelchair entrances and an accessible toilet, and carers get half price tickets though it's capped at two per event and needs agreeing with the promoter first.

How much are tickets?
It depends entirely on the show. Nostalgic Music nights start from £3, while the bigger tribute acts run £31 to £46 for VIP.
Do we need to book ahead?
Booking isn't required, you can buy on the door. They do warn that last-minute availability isn't guaranteed though, so it's a bit of a punt for popular shows.
How do we get tickets?
Online, by phone on 0121 296 9543, or in person at the Box Office, all Monday to Friday 10am to 4pm excluding bank holidays. The door opens an hour before the show if you're buying on arrival.
Is there parking?
No on-site parking. There are free spaces on King Edwards Square after 6pm, including two disability bays, or nearby car parks from £1.20.
Is it easy to get to by train?
Very. Sutton Coldfield train station is a minute's walk from the door, with trains to Birmingham Grand Central and Lichfield both around 20 minutes.
Is it wheelchair accessible?
There are accessible entrances and toilets, plus Blue Badge parking. Wheelchair spaces are limited to two per event though, so book through the Box Office rather than turning up.
Are there concession tickets for kids?
Concessions cover under 16s along with students, seniors and carers, but prices change show by show. Best to check when you book which price band applies.
