What it’s like

A community theatre putting on an annual pantomime plus youth theatre shows, films, music and dance through the year.

The panto is the big one here. It's the kind of show that gets pencilled into the calendar every winter, and if you've got a five-year-old who thinks shouting "he's behind you" at strangers is the height of comedy, this is where they get to do it properly. Outside of panto season there's a fair bit going on too, with youth theatre productions giving local kids a shot at the stage themselves, alongside films, music and dance nights.

It's the sort of venue where the programme changes throughout the year rather than one fixed show running on a loop, so what's on when you look will depend on the season. That's worth knowing if you're planning around a specific age or interest, since a youth theatre production one month might be swapped for a film screening the next.

If you want to actually get tickets or ask a question, the box office keeps fairly tight hours, open Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 11am to noon and again 7pm to 8pm. That's a narrow window and easy to miss if you're not looking out for it, so it's one to note rather than assume you can just ring anytime.
