Adventure Parks & High Ropes in Manchester

Depot Climbing has bouldering and roped walls from age one, six minutes out from the centre, with quiet sessions if the main hall gets too much. Kickair, a kilometre out, mixes trampolines and ninja obstacles with a soft play corner for under-5s. For something with more sky above you, Jungle Parc out at Warrington has treetop zip lines from age four plus a proper high-wire test for the brave ones, and Go Ape Buxton, a longer trip out, is built for ages 10 and up through Grinlow Woods. For toddlers and younger kids, Depot and Kickair stay indoors and dry. For free time out, Blackleach Country Park has open paths and a lake to walk round any time, no charge. Older children with a head for heights are better served further out, at Jungle Parc's high wires or Go Ape's harnessed courses above Buxton, both needing a car and a booking. If archery and axe throwing appeal more than ropes, Cheshire Outdoors takes kids from six, though it is a longer trip out to Northwich.
