What it’s like

A woodland activity site where kids from six try archery, axe throwing and a segway glide through the trees.

This is a pick-your-own-adventure sort of place. Archery, air rifles and axe throwing are all £20 a go, there's a low ropes course at £10, and if you fancy something a bit different the Woodland Glide has you on a segway weaving through the trees for £35. There's a birds of prey encounter too, and cycle hire if you just want to explore on two wheels. Crazy golf is the cheap option at £4 for a child, £5 for an adult, or £15 for a family round, and it's the sort of thing you do first while everyone's still deciding what else to book.

The minimum age is six, so this isn't one for toddlers or younger siblings who'll want to join in but can't. Sessions range from half an hour up to three and a half hours depending on what you've picked, which makes it easy to build a day around two or three activities rather than committing to one long visit. If you want to do a bit of everything, the Multi Activity Package at £99 bundles several activities together, and given how quickly the individual prices add up, that's worth working out against what you'd actually book separately.

It's open every day except Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day, 10am to 4pm, and you don't need to book ahead. Parking is generous, over 150 spaces including room for coaches, so a school trip or a big group turning up unannounced isn't going to be a problem. If you're coming by train, Cuddington station is under a mile away with direct services from Manchester, Knutsford and Chester, which makes it one of the easier outdoor activity sites to reach without a car.

Save the segway or the axe throwing for last if you're doing a few activities in one visit. They're the ones that feel like the treat, and the crazy golf is a nice low-key warm up or cool down either side of it.
