What it’s like

Bouldering walls and roped climbing from age one, with quiet sessions and free carer entry for accessible climbing.

Bouldering's the main event here: walls up to 4 metres, no ropes or harness, just matting underneath and a load of climbs (they call them "problems") to work out. If your kids want the ropes instead, there's roped climbing too, either with a belayer holding the other end or an auto-belay device if they fancy going it alone. Junior classes start from age 1, which sounds mad until you realise it's about building balance and confidence early rather than sending them up a wall solo.

It's not cheap for a one-off visit. Adults are £14, under-18s £8.50, and shoe hire is another £3.50 on top unless you own a pair. Under 5s don't get shoe hire included either, so factor that in if you've got a small one keen to copy their older sibling. If your family's likely to come back often, the unlimited passes work out far better value than paying per visit, and the family Direct Debit option covers extra kids for £23 a month once the first couple are signed up.

There's a tops-on policy everywhere except the changing rooms, which is worth knowing before you turn up in a vest. Card only on site, so leave the cash at home. The café does food if you want to make a proper afternoon of it, and there's parking on site, though they're keen on car sharing if you can manage it.

Wednesday evenings from 7:30 to 9pm are the sensory-friendly slot, with drills and music turned down for anyone who finds the usual noise a lot. There are also accessible climbing options through a partnership with Access Sport, and carers go in free if they're accompanying someone with a disability.

Plan your visit

How much does it cost?

£14 for an adult, £8.50 under 18, plus £3.50 for shoe hire if you need it. It stacks up if you go often, so the monthly passes are worth a look.

Is it OK for a really young child?

Junior classes start from age 1, so toddlers are catered for. Just know shoe hire isn't included for under 5s.

Do we need to book?

There's no booking link listed, so it's likely a turn-up situation, though popular slots might be busier than others.

Is there parking?

Yes, on site, and they encourage car sharing if you can.

Can we pay by cash?

Card only. No cash accepted anywhere on site.

What's the dress code?

Tops on everywhere except the changing rooms. It's a strict rule, not a suggestion.

Is there anything for kids who find busy places overwhelming?

Wednesday evenings from 7:30 to 9pm are the sensory-friendly session, with drills and music dialled down.

What if my child has a disability?

There are accessible climbing sessions through a partnership with Access Sport, including a pathway called NICAS Ascend for young climbers with disabilities or neurodiversity. One carer gets in free per paying disabled visitor.

Is there food on site?

There's an on-site café and kitchen, with discounts if you're a member.

How do we get there without a car?

The MediaCityUK bus stop is about a 20 minute walk from the centre.

Are there discounts for students?

£9 all day entry on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from September to October 2026, including free shoe hire with valid student ID.

What's the difference between bouldering and roped climbing?

Bouldering has no ropes, just matting and lower walls up to 4 metres. Roped climbing uses a harness and either a belayer on the ground or an auto-belay device.
