What it’s like
A day of high ropes, zip wire and archery for 6 to 12 year olds at a Scout activity centre near Brighouse.
This is a proper activity day, not a soft play with a climbing wall bolted on. Kids get stuck into the high ropes course, the climbing and abseiling wall, and a zip wire, then there's archery, crate stacking and a go on the Cresta Run. The bushcraft and fire lighting session is the one they'll bring up at tea time, and pond dipping and orienteering keep things ticking over between the big-ticket stuff.
It's aimed at 6 to 12 year olds and runs as the STAY Wild Holiday Club, either 8.30am to 3.30pm for £30 or 8.30am to 5pm for £35. Booking is required, so this isn't a turn-up-and-see kind of visit. Some of the harness activities have age and height limits, which is fair enough given what's on offer, but worth bearing in mind if you've got a smaller six-year-old.
There's a kit list and it's non-negotiable. Closed-toe shoes that actually stay on, knee-length shorts, no skirts, tops that cover the shoulders, long hair tied back and nothing round the neck. They're upfront that kids will get muddy or wet, which is exactly what you want from a day like this, just don't send them in their best trainers.
There's a gift shop and food on site, and parking for when you drop off and collect. One thing to flag if you were hoping to camp as a family: Bradley Wood only takes camping bookings from Scout, Guide, youth organisation or corporate groups, so this is a day-activity booking rather than a weekend away.

Plan your visit
How much does it cost?
The STAY Wild Holiday Club is £30 for 8.30am to 3.30pm, or £35 if you want the longer day until 5pm.
Do we need to book?
Yes, booking is required rather than just showing up on the day.
What age is it suitable for?
It's set up for 6 to 12 year olds. Some harness-based activities have their own age and height restrictions on top of that.
What should my child wear?
Closed-toe shoes that can be secured, knee-length shorts rather than skirts, and a top that covers the whole upper body. Long hair needs tying back and nothing worn round the neck.
Will they get muddy?
Very likely. The site says to expect kids to get muddy or wet during activities, so old clothes are the move.
Is there food and a shop on site?
There's on-site food and a gift shop at the centre.
Can we come camping as a family?
Camping bookings are only taken from Scout and Guide groups, other youth organisations or corporate customers. The public can visit for private functions or publicised events.
Can we look round before our child's visit?
You can, but they ask you to let them know in advance so they can show you round properly.
What happens if we need to cancel?
If you cancel within 4 weeks of your arrival date, it's payment in full, so it pays to be sure before you commit.
