Theme Parks & Fairgrounds in Derby
There is nothing right in Derby itself for this one, so it means a drive out. The closest is a longer trip out to Matlock Bath for Gulliver's Kingdom, a hillside park with a log flume 300ft up and rides pitched at ages 2 to 13, from £20. Nottingham has Slick City, an indoor slide park in Lenton from £14.95 for age 4 and up, useful if the weather turns. Further afield near Tamworth, Drayton Manor combines coasters, a Thomas & Friends land and a 15-acre zoo on one ticket, entry from just £2. For toddlers, Gulliver's Kingdom and its sister park Gulliver's Valley near Rotherham both cap ages at 13 and need booking ahead. Older kids and thrill-seekers are better off at Drayton Manor's coasters or Slick City's dry slides and Air Courts. Everything here is outdoor bar Slick City, so keep an indoor option up your sleeve for a wet day, and book online where you can, since several of these charge less that way than on the gate.
