What it’s like

Kids get behind the controls of real diggers and dumpers, plus over 20 rides included in one ticket.

This isn't a park where children watch machinery, it's one where they drive it. Real diggers, dumpers and full-size construction kit are the whole point, and there's over 20 rides and drives bundled into the admission price, so once you're in you're not reaching for your wallet every five minutes, bar the coin-operated extras. The Spindizzy, the Skyshuttle for a view over the site, and an off-road Groundshuttle ride sit alongside dodgems and go-karts, so there's a proper mix of "operate the machine" and "just enjoy the ride".

It suits kids from about 4 up to 14, though the site is honest that under-80cm visitors can't get on most of the rides and drives, which is worth knowing if you've got a little one in tow who'll end up watching rather than doing. Under-90cm gets in free, everyone else needs a paid ticket regardless of age. Coin-operated rides like the quad-bikes and superdigs are £1 a go on top, so pack some change.

Booking ahead by at least a day saves a decent chunk, £25.95 against £39.50 for an adult on the day, and there's a £5 booking fee on top of online tickets. That's a big gap for turning up on spec, and online tickets are non-refundable and non-transferable, so pick your date and stick to it. There are no timed slots though, you can arrive anytime after the 10am opening and stay all day, which suits a longer visit since the site itself reckons on at least 4 hours.

If your booking covers a group, everyone needs to arrive together, no splitting off early with half the party. Unaccompanied children need to be at least 13, and anyone bringing a younger child solo needs to be 16 or over. There's indoor and outdoor play alongside the rides, a gift shop, and party rooms if you're planning a birthday there.

Plan your visit

How much are tickets?

£25.95 for an adult if you book at least a day ahead, £39.50 if you pay on the day. Seniors get a similar discount for pre-booking too.

Do we need to book in advance?

You don't have to, but booking a day or more ahead saves you over £13 on an adult ticket. Pay-on-the-day tickets are subject to availability.

What age is it suitable for?

Best from about 4 upwards, and it goes up to 14. Under-80cm visitors can't get on most of the rides and drives, so very small children will miss out on the main draw.

Is there a fee for booking online?

Yes, £5 gets added to every online booking on top of the ticket price.

Can I get a refund if plans change?

Online bookings are non-refundable and non-transferable. Management can move a booking in extenuating circumstances, with an admin fee, but it has to be within the same season.

Are there set arrival times?

There are no timed slots. Turn up anytime after 10am and stay as long as you like.

How long should we plan to stay?

At least 4 hours, according to the site, and given the ticket price that's about right to make it worthwhile.

Does the ticket price include the rides?

General admission covers all the main rides and drives. The dodgems, quad-bikes and superdigs are extra, £1 a go, so bring coins.

Can children come on their own?

Unaccompanied children need to be at least 13. Anyone accompanying a younger child needs to be 16 or over.

Do we all have to arrive at the same time if we've booked as a group?

The whole booking needs to arrive together. They won't admit part of a group early and let the rest follow on.
