Museums in Coventry
Coventry Music Museum, close to the centre, charges from £3 and lets kids compose in a studio and sit inside a Ghost Town car rather than just look at guitars in cases. A short way out, the Midland Air Museum has historic aircraft outdoors to wander among and cockpits to climb into, including the Vulcan bomber's, from £5.95. For something bigger, a drive out to Warwick brings the British Motor Museum, from £9 for ages 5 and up, with sit-in cars and push-along motors for younger visitors plus a free look at the working Collections Centre. If you want free, Coventry Music Museum aside, there's little in the centre itself, so budget for the ones above or plan a longer trip to Leicester, where the Museum & Art Gallery and the Guildhall cost nothing. Toddlers will do better at the British Motor Museum's push-along motors than the Midland Air Museum's age 5 to 15 range. For a full day, the National Motorcycle Museum in Solihull has over a thousand restored bikes under one roof, with a guided tour if you want the highlights pointed out, from £10.
