What it’s like
A self-guided chocolate tour with a 4D cinema, a Chocolate Quest ride and a doodling-and-tempering zone to get sticky in.
You walk through at your own pace, so a toddler who wants to stare at one thing for ten minutes won't hold anyone up. There's a demonstration zone where staff actually work the chocolate, a 4D cinema, and the Chocolate Quest ride, plus a Have A Go area where you can try doodling and tempering chocolate yourself. Outside there's an African Adventure Play Area if anyone needs to get outside after all that sitting still.
It suits the whole age range on paper, 2 to 15 for a child ticket and free under 2s, but a teenager will get more out of the chocolate-making history than a two-year-old will. Most people are done in about 2 hours, though the site reckons 3 to 3.5 hours if you want to do it properly and not rush the shop at the end.
Booking is not optional here. There's no walk-in admission, tickets are online only, and you can't skip sections or nip back to something you missed once you've moved on. There's also nowhere to leave bags or a packed lunch, so travel light and plan to eat there or not at all.
Prices from £18 online climb fast if you turn up without a ticket, so sort it before you go. A family of four online starts at £68, and there's a cafe on site plus a gift shop for the inevitable chocolate haul on the way out.
