Pantomime & Family Theatre in Coventry
Panto season in Coventry means a bit of a drive, but it is worth it. Out at Kenilworth, the Talisman Theatre puts on its annual panto alongside family drama and fringe nights, with a relaxed performance for anyone who needs it, though its family shows are pitched at 12 and up. A drive out to Sutton Coldfield gets you the Town Hall's Cinderella and Joseph from £3, or Highbury Theatre with its Tuesday youth theatre for 11 to 18 year olds. For younger children, Tamworth Assembly Rooms takes babes in arms up to 16 year olds, all under one old theatre roof in the middle of town. Playbox Theatre in Warwick runs workshops from age 4 and tickets start at £10. If you want the panto without the picky-eater faff, the Circle Lounge at Birmingham Hippodrome lets you feed the kids before curtain up. Century Theatre in Coalville is a longer trip, but there is free parking right outside, which counts for something on a cold night out.
