Theme Parks & Fairgrounds in York
There's no theme park inside York itself, so this is a day-trip page more than a local one. Closest in is Sandall Park in Doncaster, free to get into, with a zip-wire play area and woodland adventure play. For a proper theme park with rides, it's a longer trip out to Rotherham for Gulliver's Valley, from £26 online, with Lost World dinos for ages 2 to 13, or further still to Diggerland Yorkshire in Castleford, from £12.97, where kids drive real diggers and get over 20 rides included. If you want free and easy, Sandall Park or Greenhead Park in Huddersfield (free, with a double zip wire and a Saturday-only miniature railway) will do for an afternoon. For younger children, Sundown Adventureland in Retford has under-90cm entry free and 30 plus rides for under-10s. Booking ahead is required at most of the bigger parks, and free parking is common, so check that before you set off.
