What it’s like

Free water play, a big playground and a duck pond in one park, with a café for when everyone's soaked and hungry.

The water play feature is the obvious draw once the weather warms up, and it costs nothing to use. Bring a change of clothes and a towel, because nobody comes out of that dry. There's a large play area alongside it for when the water's switched off or the kids want a break, plus an outdoor gym if you fancy pretending you'll use it while they're on the swings.

Heath Pool is worth building into the visit too. There's duck food available, so it's an easy way to spend twenty minutes with a toddler who's had enough of the playground but isn't ready to go home. Between the pond, the wildlife watching and the play area, you could easily fill a couple of hours without spending a penny beyond parking or a coffee.

Speaking of which, parking is free but limited, and the park warns it fills up on weekdays and when the weather's especially good, which is exactly when you'll want to go. If you can get there by bus (the 276 stops at Norton Road and Worcester Street) or on foot from Stourbridge Junction, that's one less thing to worry about. Dogs are allowed and so are picnics.

There's a café on site for when you need a proper sit down rather than a picnic blanket, and the toilets are accessible, which helps if you're there for the long haul. The water play only runs seasonally.

Plan your visit

Is it free?

Yes, entry to the park and the water play feature are both free.

Is the water play on all year?

It runs seasonally rather than year round, so it's a warmer-weather visit for the splash bit.

Can we bring a picnic?

Picnics are allowed in the park, and there's also a café if you'd rather buy something.

Are dogs allowed?

Dogs are welcome in the park.

What else is there besides the water play?

A large play area, an outdoor gym, and Heath Pool where you can feed the ducks.
