What it’s like
Bouldering walls for kids to try under supervision, with routes changed regularly and a café to collapse in afterwards.
This is climbing without the ropes and harnesses, just problems set low enough that a fall means landing on the mats, not dangling on a belay. The routes get changed frequently according to the site, so it's not a place where you master one wall and get bored. Under-14s are welcome but every one of them has to be supervised by a registered adult over 18, which means this isn't a drop-and-shop, you're climbing too or at least clipped on nearby the whole time.
Pricing is where it gets a bit fiddly. Peak times, which cover 4pm to 10pm on weekdays plus all day at weekends, cost non-members £12.50 as an adult and £7 for a child under 14 (£5 if they're under 7). Sign up as a member and that adult peak price drops to £11.50. There's also a cheaper off-peak window, 12pm to 3:45pm on weekdays, where non-members pay £11 and members pay £10. If you're only going once, membership won't make sense, but if you can see yourselves coming back regularly the monthly pass at £45 or the standing order at £40 a month starts to look sensible against those one-off prices. Shoe hire is £3 on top, and there's a one-off £5 lifetime registration fee to factor in too.
The café serves Union Hand Roasted coffee, home baked goods and toasties, which is a proper reward system for a kid who's just fallen off the same problem eight times. It's worth knowing they also serve alcohol, so this isn't a soft-play canteen, more a proper café bar. Opening hours run 12pm to 10pm weekdays and 11am to 6pm at weekends and bank holidays, so weekday evenings after 4pm are your peak-price window if you're coming straight from school.
For a family with an energetic ten-year-old who's bored of the local soft play, this could be the next step up. Just go in expecting to climb yourself, not sit on the sidelines with a coffee.

Plan your visit
How much does it cost for a child?
£7 for under-14s at peak times (weekday evenings from 4pm, all day weekends), or £5 if they're under 7. Peak and off-peak pricing applies, so check which window you're in.
Do adults pay more if we're not members?
Yes, non-members pay £12.50 peak and £11 off-peak, while members pay £11.50 peak and £10 off-peak. Membership only pays off if you're coming back often.
Can my child climb without me?
Every child under 14 has to be supervised by a registered adult over 18. You're either climbing alongside them or watching from right there, not from the café.
Is there a minimum age?
The site lists an upper age of 14 for the child pricing, with a cheaper rate for under-7s, but doesn't set a minimum age beyond needing an adult supervisor.
Do we need to book ahead?
There's no booking link listed, so it looks like a turn-up-and-pay setup.
What are the opening hours?
12pm to 10pm on weekdays, 11am to 6pm on weekends and bank holidays.
Is there anywhere to eat?
There's a café on site doing Union Hand Roasted coffee, home baked goods and toasties. It also serves alcohol, so it's more café bar than kids' canteen.
Do we need our own climbing shoes?
Shoe hire is £3 if you don't have your own.
Is there a cheaper time to go?
Off-peak entry runs 12pm to 3:45pm on weekdays and is a couple of pounds cheaper than peak for both members and non-members.
