What it’s like
Bouldering walls, a Moonboard with LED routes, and kids' climbing clubs, with a day pass that lets you climb as long as you like.
This is a bouldering centre, so there are no ropes or harnesses to faff with, just climbing shoes and walls set at different grades. Kids can go straight onto the main bouldering circuits or join one of the Kids Climbing Clubs if they want proper instruction rather than just scrambling up and falling off. Keener climbers (or parents who fancy a go) can try the 2024 Moonboard, which uses an LED system to light up set routes, and there's a full gym alongside if anyone wants cardio or free weights once the climbing's done.
A day pass has no time limit, and the site reckons most people stay around two hours, though nothing's stopping you making a full afternoon of it. That flexibility is the main appeal over a booked slot somewhere else. Walk-ups are fine and there's no need to book ahead, but if it's your first visit you'll need to fill in a registration form, which includes a short safety video. It's a bit of a faff standing there filling in paperwork with an impatient seven-year-old, but it only happens once.
Prices are per person rather than per session, so a child's day pass is £3.50 and an adult's is £13.50, or you can do a family pass, which works out cheaper if there are two of you with kids in tow. One adult can supervise up to two children, so a lone parent with three kids will need another adult along. There's a café on site for a break between climbs, and the centre is wheelchair accessible. Dogs aren't allowed in, which is worth knowing if you usually bring one along on days out.
Routes get reset weekly, one circuit taken down on Thursday and rebuilt by Friday, so regulars won't get bored climbing the same holds every visit.

Do we need to book?

How long do people usually stay?
Day passes have no time limit. Most visits run around two hours, but you can stay longer if the kids are still keen.

Do you offer inductions for beginners?
You don't strictly need one. The registration form covers the basics through a short video, though inductions are available if you want extra help.
Do you hire out ropes or harnesses?
It's a bouldering-only centre so there's nothing to belay with. Climbing shoes are the only kit you need and those can be hired.
