Farms & Petting Farms in Newcastle

Newcastle has two free farms right in the city: Ouseburn Farm, where donations are welcome and Cafe Beam does the teas, and Pets Corner in Jesmond Dene, with goats and rabbits by the visitor centre cafe. Out at Gateshead, Bill Quay Community Farm is free every day and lets kids feed the animals and wander the growing patches. For a proper day trip, South Causey Farm Experience out at Stanley has on-site food, and Brocksbushes Farm Shop in Northumberland adds a four-storey soft play barn and pick-your-own fruit for £1.50 upwards. If cost matters, start with the free city farms before paying for a day out further afield. Toddlers do well at Brocksbushes or a longer trip out to Tweddle Children's Animal Farm in Hartlepool, from £9.95 for ages one and up, with tractor rides and go-karts. Hall Hill Farm near Lanchester has indoor play for wet days, while Rising Sun Country Park in Benton mixes farm animals with trails, a lake and its own soft play, all free to enter.
