What it’s like

Farm shop with a four-storey soft play barn, pick your own fruit, pumpkin picking and a café for the grown-ups.

The soft play barn is the headline act here, four levels of it, plus an outdoor play area for when the sun's out. Depending on the time of year you can add pick your own fruit or pumpkin picking to the day, and there are seasonal animal encounters and hay bale climbing thrown in too. It's billed as a full day out rather than a quick stop, and once you've factored in lunch and a browse of the farm shop, that tracks.

Opening hours are generous, 8:30 to 5:30 Monday to Saturday and a slightly later start on Sundays. The Courtyard Kitchen café covers meals and there's a proper afternoon tea if you fancy making a thing of it, though at £24.95 for an adult and £14.95 for a child, the Pumpkin Afternoon Tea isn't a casual add-on. Parking is free, which takes the edge off.

Birthday parties happen in the Play Barn, two-hour sessions daily, from £12.50 a child off-peak. That gets you a dedicated host, unlimited squash and hot drinks for the grown-ups, and use of a private party area, though you'll need seven days' notice and a £50 deposit to lock it in. There's no entertainment or characters laid on, so if you want a magician or a princess you're bringing them yourself. Extras like ice cream stations, milkshakes and a cake that serves 30 all cost more on top, and additional adults beyond the free allowance are £2.50 each.

If you're planning around one of the seasonal events, the Pumpkin Experience in October is the big one, with over 155,000 pumpkins reportedly planted for it, and there's a Christmas Fayre in November. Most seasonal events need tickets booked online in advance rather than turning up on the day. Outdoor play can close in bad weather, so the soft play barn is your fallback if the forecast looks grim.
