Circus & Street Performance in Plymouth

Plymouth's take on this is more variety night than big top. The Woolwell Centre, out towards the edge of the city, puts on swing and jazz nights and tribute acts alongside family entertainment like its Halloween party, with a café on site if you need a sit down. Closer in, the Barbican Theatre runs weekly youth theatre for 8 to 18 year olds, building confidence through drama rather than watching a stage show. The Soapbox Children's Theatre, tucked inside Devonport Park, does storytelling shows for younger ones, with free parking if you're driving over. If it's a proper night out you're after, Boom Battle Bar has axe throwing and augmented reality darts, and lets under 18s in with an adult before 7pm. Plymouth Speedway is the one for older kids and adults who fancy watching 500cc bikes hit 80mph, gates open early evening and it's pay on the door. For something calmer, Cosmic Kitchen does a vegetarian-friendly menu in a dog-friendly courtyard, and Marjon Sport & Health Centre has a family pool from £3.50 if the weather turns.
