What it’s like
Weekly youth theatre sessions for 8 to 18 year olds, building confidence and creativity through drama.
This is a term-time youth theatre group for young people aged 8 to 18, running on Mondays. The sessions are built around self-expression and imagination, so it's less about learning lines and more about giving kids room to try things out and build confidence on stage.
No previous theatre experience is needed, which takes the pressure off if your child has never done drama before and isn't sure they'll like it. That's backed up by two free taster sessions before anyone commits, a sensible way to test the water without booking into a full term straight away.
Given the age range runs from 8 right up to 18, expect the group to include a proper mix of younger kids and teenagers, which could suit an eight-year-old wanting to try something new just as well as a teenager after a regular creative outlet. Sessions happen at the Barbican Theatre in Plymouth during term time only.
If your child has access needs or anything else that might affect how they take part, the team say they're happy to talk it through before joining, which is worth doing ahead of that first taster session rather than on the day.
