What it’s like

Storytelling shows and imaginative theatre for young children, tucked inside Devonport Park.

Small-scale theatre built around stories rather than sets, where the site talks up meeting unusual characters and playful, interactive shows rather than sitting quietly and watching. Expect storytelling adventures and creative play sessions aimed squarely at younger audiences, the sort of thing that works well for a child who wants to join in rather than just watch from a seat.

It sits inside Devonport Park itself, so a show can easily turn into a park visit either side of it, useful if you've got a toddler who won't sit still for a whole performance and needs a run about the grass afterwards. There's a café and a gift shop on site too, which covers you for snacks and the inevitable "can I have something from the shop" on the way out.

Getting there is easy on the practical stuff at least. Devonport train station is minutes away, there are bus links into the city centre, and there's free roadside parking on the residential streets nearby, which beats paying for a car park in town.
