What it’s like
Axe throwing, augmented reality darts and shuffleboard under one roof, open to under 18s with an adult before 7pm.
Games are the whole point here: AR axe throwing, AR darts, American pool, shuffleboard and the beer or prosecco pong table if the grown-ups fancy it. There's karaoke booths too, which is where the evening usually ends up regardless of what you booked in for. Games start from £5, or there's a BOOM Bundle at £27.50 a head if you want to cover a few activities in one go without totting it up as you go along.
Under 18s can play before 7pm as long as an adult is with them, and after that it switches to strictly 18+, so a family session needs planning around the clock rather than the calendar. It's open from midday most days, running to 10pm Sunday to Thursday and much later on Friday and Saturday nights if you're coming without the kids. Walk-ins are fine but online booking is the sensible move for evenings, weekends or a bigger group, and worth knowing that bookings can't be refunded once made.
There's a street food menu on site, burgers and chicken tenders and fries among it, plus a £10 meal deal if you want to keep costs down. It's card only though, so leave the cash at home. The venue sits inside The Barcode with a multi-storey car park right there, and it's about a 15-minute walk from Plymouth Railway Station if you're coming in by train.
For a family afternoon, the daytime slot before 7pm is really the only option, and an adult needs to be on hand throughout rather than dropping the kids off and finding a seat at the bar.
