Watch 500cc speedway bikes race round the track at 80mph, gates open early evening, pay on the door.

The racing is the whole point here. 500cc speedway motorcycles going round the bend at 80mph with no brakes, which is as loud and as fast as it sounds. Gates open at 5pm and the first race is at 7pm, so there's a couple of hours to get settled before the noise starts properly.

You don't need to book, you just pay on the gate, and they'll take card or cash. Standing is £20, or £23 if you want a seat in the NHS Stand, which is worth it if you'd rather not be on your feet for the whole meeting. Under 16s and students get in for £10, which makes it a decent price if you've got a teenager who's into engines and speed rather than football or cricket.

There's food on site if you don't fancy eating beforehand, and parking's available too. It's an evening out rather than an afternoon one, so bear in mind it'll run late with an under 16 in tow if you're staying for the full card of races.
