Farms & Petting Farms in Plymouth

Only two proper options for animals and open space near Plymouth, but they suit different days out. Dartmoor Zoo is out at Sparkwell, with walk-through habitats, lions and wolves, plus a cafe and baby change if you need a pit stop. It's outdoor throughout, so pack for weather rather than count on shelter. For something more farm than zoo, it's a longer trip out to Buckfastleigh for Pennywell Farm, which mixes animals with both indoor and outdoor play areas and its own cafe, useful if little legs need a break between paddocks. That indoor play makes it the better bet with toddlers or on a wet day, while Dartmoor Zoo's bigger animals and walk-through enclosures suit children with a bit more patience for looking rather than touching. Both have parking and toilets with baby change, so neither needs much extra planning beyond deciding how far you fancy driving.
