What it’s like
A retro arcade and bar with Laser Quest in the basement, but it's an over-18s venue except for one Sunday morning kids' session.
This one's for the grown-ups, mostly. NQ64 is an arcade bar stacked with machines like Mortal Kombat, Mario Kart, Time Crisis and Dance Mats, plus free-to-play consoles if you'd rather not feed the token slot. There's Laser Quest down in the basement too. Entry's free, and you buy tokens as you go, £9.50 for 15 or £13 for 25, with games costing one or two tokens a play.
The catch for families is the age rule. Every session is strictly 18+ except Shorty Sundays, which run 11am to 3pm on a Sunday and let under-18s in. Outside that window it's ID on the door, and they're fussy about it too, only accepting a physical passport or driving licence, so don't turn up with a photo on your phone and expect to talk your way in.
If you do get the Shorty Sunday slot, it's worth knowing there's no proper food, just crisps and sweet snacks at the bar, so eat before you come or after. They do soft drinks alongside the alcohol, and both cash and card are accepted. The venue's wheelchair accessible with an accessible toilet, which is one less thing to worry about if that matters for your visit.
Given the hours (Sunday's actually their earliest opening at 11am, same as Saturday), Shorty Sundays feels like a deliberate carve-out rather than an afterthought. Just don't plan on wandering in on a Tuesday afternoon with the kids in tow, because that slot's for adults only.
