What it’s like

A big outdoor site for paintball, quad bikes, archery and axe throwing, built for kids eight and up who fancy something loud.

This isn't your average soft play afternoon. Kids here get low impact paintball, quad bike trekking, archery, laser tag, airsoft, axe throwing, rifle shooting and a Jungle Escape experience, plus battle archery tag and laser clay pigeon shooting if you fancy branching out. It's aimed squarely at the eight-plus crowd rather than little ones, and honestly that's the right call given what's on offer.

The low impact paintball is the headline act for parties, using kit that the site says gives you the adrenaline without the sting of the full-on stuff. A birthday session runs two hours with 500 paintballs per player, needs a minimum of 10 players, and starts at £350 for the group, so it's one to organise properly rather than a spur-of-the-moment booking. You also get a private party area for 45 minutes, which is handy for cake and a breather before everyone's back out getting shot at.

If one activity isn't enough, stacking them saves money: book two and it's £5 off per person, three gets you £10 off, four gets £15 off, and so on. Worth bearing in mind if the kids want to try quad biking and archery in the same visit rather than just the paintball.

There's a car park on site and it's free, which takes one cost off the list. The Serial Grillers Cafe opens at weekends if you don't fancy packing lunch, though you're welcome to bring your own food and there's indoor seating for when you need to sit down and dry off. Opening hours run 9 to 6 on weekdays and a touch shorter at weekends, 8:30 to 5:30, and booking is required, so this isn't a turn-up-and-see kind of place.

How much does it cost?

Low impact paintball birthday parties start at £35 per player, with a £350 minimum for a group of 10. Stack activities together and you get money off per person too.

Do we need to book in advance?

Yes, booking is required here, there's no just turning up on the day.

What age is this suitable for?

Five is the general minimum, though low impact paintball itself needs players to be at least eight.

What can the kids actually do?

Paintball, quad bike trekking, archery, laser tag, airsoft, axe throwing, rifle shooting and a Jungle Escape experience are all listed, along with battle archery tag and laser clay pigeon shooting.

Is parking free?

There are large free car parks on site.

What about food?

The Serial Grillers Cafe is open at weekends, with bottled drinks and snacks also available. You can bring your own food if you'd rather.

Can we bring our own paintballs?

Players aren't allowed to bring paintballs from anywhere else into the site.

Does low impact paintball actually hurt?

The site says it uses the latest low impact kit, so you get the adrenaline of paintball without the harder hit of the standard version.
