What it’s like

An 18-hole outdoor putting course with themed holes and camel rides, plus a leaderboard to argue over on the way back to the car.

Eighteen holes of chip and putt, equipment hire chucked in with the ticket, so there's no faffing about with extra kit charges once you're through the gate. The themed holes are the obvious draw, and the site keeps a running leaderboard so your lot can spend the whole car journey home arguing about who actually won. There are camel rides too, which isn't something you get at most crazy golf places.

It's £9.95 a child and £11.50 for adults, or £38.50 for two adults and two kids as a family ticket, which works out cheaper than paying separately if there are four of you. No booking needed, you just turn up and they say you'll normally be playing within a few minutes. That's handy on a whim, less handy if you've driven over expecting a quiet afternoon, because it does get busy later in the day. Early arrival is the tip straight from the venue itself.

It's outdoor and weather dependent, so a soggy forecast could scupper the plans. Opening is a bit patchy outside school holidays too, Fridays only from noon and weekends from 10, so check which day you're going for before you set off. Parking's free on site, and there are toilets and somewhere to sit if you've brought a picnic.

Birthday parties get a sheltered rest area, but you're bringing your own food and cake and just buying drinks from the kiosk on site. There's a loyalty card running as well, ten stamps for a free game, worth picking up if you think you'll be back more than once this season.
