What it’s like

Eighteen holes of dino-themed adventure golf outdoors, with waterfalls and a swing bridge to cross along the way.

You're walking a course dotted with life-size dinosaurs, playing your way across a swing bridge and past waterfalls over eighteen holes. It's outdoors, so wrap up if it's cold, but they call it an all-weather setup and stay open through rain and snow. No spectators are allowed on the course itself, which is a bit of a faff if grandad wanted to watch from the side rather than play, but it does mean everyone's actually taking part.

They reckon a family of four gets round in about an hour, which feels about right for younger legs before they lose interest. Under 12s need an adult with them throughout, and groups are capped at six so the course doesn't back up behind you. It's £9 for a junior and £12 for an adult, or £39 for a family of four, which stings less once you remember under 3s go free and nobody's paying for a round they'll barely finish.

Booking online is the sensible move since they say it's preferred to avoid disappointment, though they will take walk-ins if there's space. It's cashless throughout, so leave the coins at home. There's a café and licenced bar on site for food and drinks, and parking's free and accessible for both wheelchairs and pushchairs.

For birthdays, parties run two to two and a half hours and include golf plus food in a party tipi, catering for 10 to 30 children with dietary requirements covered. One thing to know: benches are reserved for café customers, so picnics brought from home aren't really an option here.
