What it’s like
Eighteen holes of crazy golf weaving past a dozen life-size moving dinosaurs, outdoors and open into the evening.
This is crazy golf with a script. Eighteen holes wind through a dinosaur world, and along the way you get twelve life-size dinosaurs that actually move, roar, the lot. It's not just a course with some plastic props stuck on the side, the dinosaurs are the whole point, and the site clearly builds each hole around them rather than the other way round.
Being outdoors, it's a course you play with the weather rather than despite it, so a dry evening in summer is probably the better shout than a grey Tuesday in February. Mon-Fri you've got until 9pm with last entry at 8, so it works as an after-school or after-work round without rushing. Weekends close earlier, at 7pm with last entry at 6, which catches a few families out if they turn up expecting the same hours as a weekday.
Money-wise, £9 for a junior and £12 for an adult adds up fast for two parents and two kids, so the £39 family ticket for two explorers and two little explorers is the one to go for if that fits your group. There's no clubhouse restaurant as such, but there's on-site food and confectionery for the basics, and the Dilke Arms pub right at the entrance does proper meals daily if eighteen holes has left everyone starving.
It's wheelchair accessible and picnics are allowed if you'd rather bring your own food and make a longer afternoon of it. Birthday parties are catered for too, with packages starting from £9 per child, though you'll need to sort your own food or outside catering for those.
