What it’s like
A private hour-long puzzle room where your team has to riddle, search and think its way out before the clock runs down.
You get sixty minutes, one room, and a set of puzzles that don't care how clever you think your family is. It's a private booking, so it's just your group in there, no randomers added to make up numbers, and there are 15 different themed rooms to pick from across the site. Solve enough of it and you get a free group photo at the end as proof you actually did it.
This isn't one for the younger kids. The minimum age is 8, and even then anyone under 12 has to be with an adult throughout, while 12 to 16 year olds can sometimes go it alone as long as a grown-up stays on the premises. Under 6s get in free if you genuinely can't get a babysitter, though the site's honest that most of them just sleep through it rather than crack any codes. Two players is the minimum for any room, so this works as well for a pair as it does for a bigger group.
Turn up on time or the whole thing gets awkward. Fifteen minutes late and the Game Master starts your timer anyway, eating into your hour, and twenty minutes late means the booking's cancelled with no refund. There's no photography inside the rooms once you're in, and it's card only, so don't bank on paying with the cash you found down the sofa.
Parking isn't the problem here, with 2400 free spaces on site. Staircases are, though, since the venue isn't wheelchair accessible in places. It's not a big birthday package deal but they do run promotions, and plenty of locations sit inside Tenpin centres if you fancy turning the day into something bigger.

Plan your visit
How long does a game last?
Sixty minutes once your team's briefed and inside the room.
Do we need to book ahead?
Booking online or by phone is how most people get in, though walk-ins are taken if there's space on the day.
What age does it suit?
Eight and up. Under 12s must be with an adult, and even 12 to 16 year olds need an adult on the premises unless a waiver's signed for older teens.
Is there parking?
Yes, 2400 free spaces on site.
Can we bring a wheelchair?
Not really. Some premises have staircases and the venue isn't set up for mobility aids, so get in touch directly if this matters for your group.
What happens if we're late?
Fifteen minutes late and your game timer starts anyway. Twenty minutes late and the booking's cancelled with no refund.
Do you do birthday parties?
There's no fixed party package, but they run deals through the week and weekend, and some locations are inside Tenpin centres if you want to make more of the day.
