Beaches & Coast in Glasgow
Glasgow itself doesn't have a beach to call its own, so this one is about the drive out. Nearest is Coast at Port Glasgow, a bar and restaurant right by Langbank train station doing breakfast through to late dinner if you fancy a proper sit-down rather than a paddle. Keep going and you reach Largs Bay Beach, free and sandy with a boating lake close by, open all hours for whenever the tide and the toddler nap times line up. It's a longer trip out to North Berwick for Milsey Bay Beach, but rock pools and the odd toy boat set sailing make it worth the petrol. For toddlers, Largs Bay is the easy choice, flat sand, a cafe and toilets on hand, and free to just turn up. Older kids who fancy exploring will get more from Milsey Bay's rock pools, and it's dog friendly with free parking if you're bringing the whole crew, four legs included. Neither charges a penny to visit, so the only real cost is fuel and how far you're willing to drive on the day.
