Woodland & Forest in Glasgow

None of Glasgow's woodland is right in the centre, so this is one to plan for rather than nip out to. Cashel Forest is listed in Glasgow but sits out on Loch Lomond's east side, a longer trip from the centre, and it is worth it for the all-abilities path along the Cashel Burn, easy going for buggies and wheelchairs alike. Closer in, Forest Wood in Cumbernauld is free to visit, with a pond to poke about in and birds to spot. Lang Craigs, above Dumbarton, is also free and gives you a choice: an easy buggy-friendly loop or a proper climb up Overtoun Glen. For toddlers, Lang Craigs' lower loop or the Cashel path are the sure bets, both step-free. For a family after a real walk, Overtoun Glen at Lang Craigs has some climbing in it, and Cashel has toilets and parking if you are staying a while. Forest Wood costs nothing but gets muddy come winter, so wellies over trainers. All three are outdoors only, so check the forecast before you set off.
