Birmingham doesn't have a coastline, so what's listed here is a bit different from your standard sand-and-rockpools trip. There's a longer trip out to Nottingham for Nottingham Beach, a free pop-up with real sand, a pool and paid rides that runs all summer in the middle of the city. It's a proper stand-in for a seaside day, and it doesn't cost anything to get in. If you're after something for the adults instead, there's also a longer trip out to Leicester for Golden Beach Karaoke Bar, which is 18+ only, open from 5pm to 2am, with private rooms, cocktails and food brought to your table. That one's for a night out, not a family day, so plan accordingly. For the kids, Nottingham Beach is the one to go for, and it's worth knowing some payments there are card only while others are cash only, so take a bit of both.
