Play in MiniBrum - a mini city for under-8s - then try 200+ hands-on exhibits across four floors. Watch a 4K planetarium show (£3.95 extra; under 16s need an accompanying adult), explore the outdoor Science Garden, and see steam engines, trains, cars, planes, a Spitfire, dinosaurs and Gamesworld.

Term-time tickets start at £9.95 for children 3-15 (weekdays and weekends); school-holiday child tickets are £12.95. Adults are £18.95 term-time / £21.95 holidays. Ages 0-2 go free. Unaccompanied children 12+ are welcome; 11 and under need a parent or guardian 16+. Last admission is 16:30.

Planetarium capacity is smaller than the museum and can sell out. Half-terms get very busy - after 13:30 is quieter on holidays. MiniBrum birthday parties (ages 3-8, £15 per child) are currently on hold while the offer is updated - check the party page or call 0121 348 8001.

Term-time open Tue-Sun 10:00-17:00; Birmingham school holidays daily 10:00-17:00 including listed dates such as 24 Oct-1 Nov; bank holiday Mondays open. Cafe, baby change, picnic area, lockers, bottle microwave and a quiet room on request. Drive from Notts is often about 1h15-1h45.
