What it’s like
Full-body motion capture VR where you and up to five mates suit up in haptic vests and fight your way through Stranger Things or a dinosaur jungle.
This isn't sit-down-with-a-headset VR. You get strapped into a haptic vest, handed a prop gun or whatever the mission needs, and tracked by cameras so your actual movements show up in the game. You can see your teammates moving around the room as themselves, not as blobby avatars, which is apparently what stops people walking into walls or each other. The themed worlds on offer include Deadwood PHOBIA, Stranger Things, Age of Dinosaurs and Squid Game, so there's a decent stretch between horror, sci-fi and something a bit more family-friendly if dinosaurs are more your kid's speed.
It's not cheap. £25 a head on weekdays climbs to £44.50 at the weekend, so a group of four doing Saturday afternoon is pushing £180 before anyone's had a drink from the robotic bartender. Rooms take two to six players, and with six rooms running at once it's clearly set up for parties, stag dos and work outings as much as families.
The timing is where it gets strict. You need to check in 15 to 30 minutes before your slot, and there's only a five-minute grace period after that before the booking gets cancelled outright and you're charged a fee. Turn up thinking you'll grab five minutes in the queue first and you could lose the lot. It's card only too, no cash accepted anywhere on site, so don't bank on breaking a twenty for the arcade machines.
Anyone under 18 needs a parent or guardian physically in the store to sign a waiver, though the site doesn't give a minimum age beyond that. Dress like you're going for a walk rather than a night out, since the haptic vests only stretch to 50 inches and you'll be moving about more than you'd expect from something called virtual reality.

Plan your visit
How much does it cost?
£25 a person on weekdays, £44.50 at weekends. It adds up fast for a group.
Do we need to book?
Booking online is recommended to guarantee a slot, but walk-ins get in if there's space on the day.
Is there a minimum age?
No age limit is given, but anyone under 18 needs a parent or guardian in the store to sign a waiver form.
What happens if we're late?
You get a five-minute grace period. Any later than that and the booking is cancelled with a fee, so don't cut it fine.
Can we pay in cash?
Card only, no cash accepted at all.
How many can play together?
Two to six people share a room, and there are six rooms running, which is why it works well for parties and group bookings.
What should we wear?
Light, comfortable clothes you can move in easily. The haptic vests fit up to 50 inches, so bear that in mind.
