What it’s like
Indoor karting with a dedicated Cadet Raceway for 4 to 10 year olds, plus a Main GP track for the older ones once they hit 9.
Little ones get their own patch of tarmac here rather than being squeezed onto the big track. The Cadet Raceway is built specifically for 4 to 10 year olds, so a four-year-old can actually race rather than just steer while someone else holds the pedals. Once a child is 9 (school year 5) and tall enough, they graduate to the Main GP Raceway alongside the senior karts, and that jump from cadet to main track is the bit they'll bang on about for weeks.
Every driver gets a safety briefing before they're let loose, and marshals watch the whole session, which takes some of the worry out of it if this is their first time on a track. Junior sessions start at £15 for 20 laps, up to £25 for 40, and there's a proper spread of longer formats for older kids and adults if the family wants to race together, some running into the £40s. It's not pocket-money pricing, but for indoor karting that's fairly standard, and there are picnic tables overlooking the Main Raceway if you'd rather watch than pay for a lap yourself.
Birthday parties get exclusive drive time with a trophy and medal presentation at the end, which is a nice touch for a kid's party that isn't just cake and a bouncy castle. Booking's recommended, especially weekends and holidays, and weekday slots open up 14 days ahead against just 5 for weekends, so if you want a specific Saturday time you can't leave it too late. One genuine faff: no flip-flops or sandals, it's flat closed-toe shoes only, so don't turn up in summer sliders expecting to race.
Parking's free and there's CCTV on it, and it's a five-minute walk from Stourbridge town centre if you fancy combining the trip with lunch out. Food delivery from outside isn't allowed, but you can bring your own prepared food and drinks in, which saves a few quid if you're feeding a group of kids.
