What it’s like
Woodland sessions of den building, bushcraft and Gruffalo hunts, plus birthday parties from £185 for up to ten kids.
Days here are spent outdoors and mostly off-script. Kids build dens, whittle sticks, forage for kindling and have a go at flint and steel fire lighting. There's a Gruffalo Hunt, a search for hiding animals with a bit of habitat-learning thrown in, and a Hogwarts-themed pets and potions hunt for anyone who fancies a bit of magic between the trees. Marshmallows come out over the campfire, and there's a mud café for pretend picnic treats, which is either the best bit or the muddiest bit depending on how you feel about laundry.
Birthday parties run for two hours and cost £185 for up to ten children, with a dedicated host running the activities so you're not the one in charge of entertaining a woodland full of six-year-olds. Extra children are £15 each, and you can add a drinks station, hot dogs, party bags or face painting if you want to push the budget further. It's worth flagging that parties need two parent helpers on hand for toilet trips, so don't plan on standing back with a coffee the whole time.
Adults are welcome to join in properly or hang back on the field in the shade while the kids get on with it. Wear trainers, wellies or walking boots since this is genuinely outdoors, not a covered barn with a bit of grass out front. They're allergy aware and can do vegetarian options at parties, as long as you tell them in advance.
Sessions do sometimes get cancelled at short notice, either because of the time of year or genuinely bad weather like thunderstorms or high winds, and anyone with COVID-19 or feeling unwell is asked to stay away. It's an outdoor setup and they're upfront that it's not entirely risk-free, which feels like an honest thing to say rather than a red flag.
