What it’s like

A farm shop and restaurant that turns into an indoor pumpkin patch every October, with carving tables and a fiver gets your child a pumpkin to pick.

The main event here is the Pumpkin Extravaganza, running from Saturday 24th to Saturday 31st October, 10am to 3pm daily. Kids pick their own pumpkin from an indoor patch, then carve it at the free tables provided, and there are spooktacular photos and ghoulish games thrown in. It's £5 a child and that gets you one pumpkin each, with extras at £5 a pop if one isn't enough. No booking needed, just turn up and pay on the door, which takes the faff out of planning around nap times or football practice.

Worth knowing they've dropped the entertainers this year that featured in previous Extravaganzas, so it's a quieter, more DIY affair than it might have been. That's not necessarily a bad thing if your lot are the sort who'd rather get stuck into carving than watch a show, but it's a fair shout if you're going expecting a full programme of acts.

Outside of pumpkin season there's still the sunflower fields and a summer garden party to visit, plus the Thirsty Goat serving hot drinks and light bites with picnic benches dotted about. The proper Farm Shop, Coffee Shop and Restaurant are open daily too, though if you want a sit-down meal in the restaurant they suggest booking ahead. Parking's free for four hours on the ANPR-controlled car park, which should cover most visits with room to spare.

There's also the option of a children's bakery party if you're after something for a birthday, which is a nice touch away from the usual soft play options.

Plan your visit

How much does the Pumpkin Extravaganza cost?

£5 per paying child, which includes one pumpkin to pick and carve. Extra pumpkins are £5 each if one isn't enough.

Do we need to book?

No advance booking for the Pumpkin Extravaganza, just pay on the door.

When is the Pumpkin Extravaganza on?

Saturday 24th to Saturday 31st October, 10am to 3pm daily.

Is there parking?

Free on-site parking for four hours, though the car park is ANPR camera-controlled so keep an eye on your time.

Not this year. The site says the Pumpkin Extravaganza won't have entertainers as in previous seasons, so it's more of a pick, carve and photo affair.
