Farms & Petting Farms in London
London's city farms are the easy win here, and most cost nothing at all. Vauxhall City Farm sits right by the station with a suggested donation of about £4, Kentish Town City Farm was the UK's first and still runs weekend animal sessions, and Hackney City Farm on Goldsmiths Row has a cafe and gardens for after. Spitalfields, Surrey Docks and Mudchute add goats, pigs and Thames-side or Isle of Dogs walks, all free. For a fuller farm day with rides and play barns, you're looking further out. Lee Valley Animal Adventure Park near Waltham Abbey has a bouncy pillow and teacup rides for under-12s from £7.50, Bocketts Farm Park out at Leatherhead does pig racing twice daily with two play barns for rainy days, and a longer trip out to Luton reaches Woodside Animal Farm, with tractor rides and a soft play barn from £9.50. Toddlers do well at the free London farms; older kids will get more from the rides further out.
