Galleries & Exhibitions in Brighton

Brighton does galleries properly, and most of it is right in the centre. Phoenix Art Space, just past St Peter's Church, is free to wander round and has a cafe and baby change if you need a pit stop. Paxton+Glew, just off Brighton Place, is free too and dog friendly, with paintings, prints and sculpture on show. Helm Gallery is also free to browse and turns into a bar with craft coffee and cocktails on late Friday and Saturday nights. For younger children, Pretty Neat Gallery & Studio runs age-banded workshops from felt sewing for the little ones to macrame and clothes refashioning for teens, though you will need to book. The Open Studios and The Brighton Box Gallery are good for an easy free browse with no ticket needed. Lighthouse is an arts charity space specifically for 16 to 30 year olds, running exhibitions and mentoring on art and tech. The Grange, a little further out, is free too, with step free access and disabled parking on site.
