Zoos & Wildlife Parks in Brighton

If you fancy a day with animals rather than another beach walk, Brighton doesn't give you loads of choice, but what's here covers two very different days out. Drusillas Park is out at Alfriston, a straightforward trip from the centre, and it's built for younger children, with rides and animals suited up to about age 12, plus baby changing and accessible toilets if you need them. It's outdoor throughout, so check the forecast before you go. For something bigger, it's a longer trip out to Chessington in Surrey, where the theme park doubles as a zoo. Tickets start from £32, which stings a bit for a family group, but you get rides and animals together, parking on site and somewhere to eat without leaving. Drusillas suits toddlers and younger kids best, while Chessington's rides pull in older children too. Both need booking ahead, so sort that before you set off rather than turning up on spec.
