Zoos & Wildlife Parks in Birmingham
Dudley Zoo & Castle sits closest, animals and a hilltop castle in one ticket, with baby change on site. Out at Bewdley, West Midlands Safari Park lets you drive through lions and giraffes before parking up for the walk-through zones, and it books ahead rather than turning up on spec. For something quieter and free, Saltwells Local Nature Reserve in Brierley Hill has trails where kids can spot dragonflies without a ticket at all. If money's tight, Saltwells and Market Bosworth Country Park (out in Nuneaton) cost nothing to get in, though parking at Bosworth soon adds up. Toddlers do well at Dudley, where there's baby change laid on, while older kids might prefer the Falconry Centre in Stourbridge, watching hawks and eagles work a flying display from £4. Twycross Zoo in Atherstone adds soft play and a splash park into the mix. Trentham Monkey Forest is a proper trip out at over 30 miles, so save it for a day with nothing else planned.
