What it’s like

Walk among free-roaming Barbary macaques in a woodland monkey forest, then play on primate-themed outdoor play, a willow maze and den building.

Walk among about 140 free-roaming Barbary macaques in the UK's largest primate habitat - a 60-acre woodland trail where the monkeys move around you. Hourly feeding talks from 11:15 help kids spot the troop, then they can tear around primate-themed outdoor play, the willow maze, den building, a meadow walk and nature pond. Cinema and conservation rooms add a quieter indoor stretch.

Free onsite parking on the Trentham Estate (use sat-nav ST12 9HR - the ST4 8AY address postcode sends drivers wrong). Banana Cafe, shop, picnic spaces including a tipi, toilets and baby change are on site. Paths have natural terrain and some steep bits, so wheels can be a challenge. Dogs and pets are not allowed inside the forest (assistance dogs may be accommodated outside with prior arrangement). Separate from Trentham Gardens (extra ticket).

Child (3-14) online tickets start from £10.80; adult (14+) from £13.50; 2s and under free. Concessions for 65+ / students. Disabled visitors pay the adult/child rate with 1 carer free (proof). Online is cheapest; Bank Holidays need BH tickets. Open seasonally Feb-Nov (winter closed except private Winter Walks). Birthday parties by enquiry to info@monkey-forest.com (price not published).
