Libraries in York

Not many places to choose from yet, but both are the sort you can turn up to without a plan. Acomb Explore Library, a short trip out from the centre, runs storytimes and stay-and-play sessions for under-fives, free to drop into, and there is a café if you need a sit down afterwards. The Centre @ Burnholme, also close by, does free storytime three mornings a week for babies and toddlers, no booking needed. Both are aimed squarely at the very young, ages 0 to 4, so this is one for buggies rather than big kids. Both are free, which helps if you are trying to fill a morning without spending anything. Acomb has parking and wifi if you want to make a longer visit of it; Burnholme has toilets and step-free access throughout. Turn up on the day rather than booking ahead.
