What it’s like
Free storytime, Lego building and a family games club at a small local library on Huntington Road.
This is a small local library rather than a big attraction, and that's the appeal. Under-fives get their own Storytime and Stay and Play sessions, which is about right for that age since the noise and the fidgeting are expected rather than shushed. A bit older and there's Lego+ Club, where the draw is Lego and K'nex building rather than screens, and it's the kind of thing a seven or eight-year-old will happily lose an hour to.
Games Club is pitched at everyone together, so it works if you've got children of different ages and don't fancy splitting up. Entry is free across the board, which makes it an easy one to try without committing to a whole day out. Opening hours are a bit fiddly though: weekdays it's split into a morning and afternoon slot with a gap at lunchtime, Saturdays are mornings only, and from late October 2026 the hours change again to one longer block from half ten to four. Worth checking which pattern applies before you set off.
There's no booking link listed. Parking is tight: six spaces next door plus one accessible space, though there's free street parking outside if that's full. If you're coming by bus, the First York 5/5A stops two minutes' walk away on Huntington Road.
It's indoor throughout, which makes it a decent wet-day option, and there's wifi and toilets on site.
