What it’s like
Free storytime and Lego sessions in a York library that still has a reading cafe, for now.
Wednesday mornings mean Under 5s Storytime, and Saturday mornings bring Lego Club, both free and both the sort of regular fixture you can build a week around. It's a proper library rather than a soft play, so the appeal is quieter: books to pick, a story session, some Lego, then home.
There's wifi and toilets on site, and bike parking if you're cycling over. It's open Monday to Friday 10am to 5pm and Saturday 10am to 4pm, so there's no evening slot to squeeze in after school, but the daytime hours suit a morning out with a toddler.
Worth knowing the reading cafe won't be around forever. It closes for good on Saturday 29 August 2026, so if a coffee while the kids look at picture books is part of the plan, get there before then.
