What it’s like

Free permanent displays and changing exhibitions, plus Saturday craft drop-ins, all with no entry charge.

Wander the permanent displays and whatever exhibition happens to be on, and if you time it right there's a free craft session too. Every Saturday from 1 to 3pm there's a drop-in craft activity for kids, and in the summer holidays that widens out to Wednesdays and Fridays 10am to 3pm. None of it costs anything, which makes it an easy one to slot into a rainy afternoon without worrying about ticket prices.

There's no café here, which is the one real gap. You can bring your own food and drink though, and eat it in Creativity Cove, with cold drinks available from the shop if you forget a flask. It's a fair trade off for free entry, but worth knowing before you turn up starving.

The building is accessible via the Library entrance on Museum Street, with accessible parking bays right there too, plus short-stay street parking and pay and display car parks nearby. It's also an easy walk from Warrington Bank Quay Station, about seven minutes, or a bit longer from Central Station.

Mondays and Tuesdays are off limits for general visitors since those days are reserved for booked school visits, so plan around a Wednesday to Sunday trip. Hours shift a bit through the week, running later on weekdays than at weekends, and last admission is always 15 minutes before closing.
