Tollcross International Swimming Centre

Glasgow
What it’s like
An Olympic-sized pool plus gym and sports halls under one roof, open early to late most days.
The main draw is the Olympic-sized pool, which is a proper size to swim proper lengths in rather than dodging around a leisure pool full of inflatables. There's also a gym and sports halls on site, so it's not just a swim and go, if you fancy making a morning of it.
Hours are generous. Weekdays it's open from 6am right to 10pm, which suits an early lengths session before work as much as an after-school swim. Weekends are shorter, Saturday closes at 6pm and Sunday runs to 8pm, so if you're planning a Sunday evening dip you've got more room than on a Saturday.
The café is open Monday to Saturday, 9am to 4pm, with a menu online if you want to see what's on offer before you turn up hungry. Access is well thought through: it's wheelchair accessible, there's a changing places toilet, which not every pool has, and a hearing loop is fitted. Guide and assistance dogs are welcome, though other animals aren't allowed in.
