What it’s like

A nursery and wraparound club with a maritime play theme, taking children from babies up to five.

This is a nursery first, with breakfast, after-school and holiday clubs bolted on for parents who need the extra hours. Days are built around role-play, arts and crafts, sand and water play, and circle time for stories, singing and dancing, all mapped to the EYFS areas of learning. The theme running through the place is maritime, so you get a ship gangplank as an access ramp, a ship-shaped playpen for the babies, and a slide built into the nursery signage as the bow of a ship. There's an outdoor area too, with natural logs and bark for the more physical stuff.

Full day nursery is £70, half day £40, and fees are due a month in advance, which is worth knowing before you commit rather than after. Half-day sessions run 8am to 12.45pm or 1pm to 6pm. Wraparound care is priced separately: Breakfast Club at £7 an hour, After School Club at £20 for the 3pm to 6pm stretch, and Holiday Club at £40 a day. Parents pack a lunch for the wraparound and holiday sessions.

It takes children from three months old up to five, so this is squarely a baby and preschool setting rather than anywhere for school-age kids beyond the after-school and holiday clubs. The food side is handled through a four-weekly menu with vegetarian and halal options built in. Open 8am to 6pm, Monday to Friday, 51 weeks of the year, closing only for bank holidays and a week over Christmas.
